Beginner Cooking Classes

Digital Kids Culinary Camp Whole Week 8-12 yrs

Digital Summer Culinary Camp for 8-12yrs olds!  $250 for the whole week with a fun, full integration course. Each day will build on the last lesson to give your child a big head start with life skills! What you will receive:  Each day of camp you will get an email with the prerecorded videos of the days topic, and the days recipe packet.  This allows your child to follow along at thier own pace, pause, rewind and rewatch as many times as they need to be successful.  (We recommend that an adult is near by or helping to supervise) Example week  Day 1 Knife techniques, Day 2 Pasta from Scratch, Day 3 Principles of Cooking, Day 4 International Cuisine, Day 5 Pie! Price also includes us providing two different class ingredient and meal kit boxes for pick-up at our shop. KIT PICK UP TIMES: Sunday the day before camp release from 2-6pm (Mon-Wed ingredients) Wednesday the week of camp from 2-6pm for (Thursday and Friday ingredients)

DIGITAL COOKING CLASS: Pasta From Scratch

Our NEW series of Digital classes now allow you to keep learning with us from the comfort of your own home at your own pace! Classes are pre-recorded, so no need to worry about delay, or missing out on vital information. Registrations for MEAL KIT classes close 72 hours prior to class for ordering purposes. NO KIT registrations open until 1:30pm PST on day of class. Pasta From Scratch! Fresh pasta is like a blank canvas. You are only limited by your imagination, but first you have to have the canvas. Learn how to make the dough, beautiful sheets of pasta, as well as Gnocchi and Ravioli! Once you learn how the texture of the dough looks and feels like, you will be able to whip up your own fresh pasta at home.There is not a full meal created in this class, but get creative with your sauces and toppings once you cook the delicious product off, and you'll have a hearty lunch or dinner in no time!- No pasta machine? No Problem! Our instructors show you how to roll the Italian pasta by hand! Ingredients for NO kit registrations: Italian Pasta, Gnocchi, Basic Ricotta Ravioli   Italian Pasta Dough: yield: 4 servings 2 cups AP flour 3 pinches salt 1 Tbsp Olive Oil 1 egg water as needed   Gnocchi: Yield: 3-4 servings 1 # mashed potatoes (feel free to use mashed potatoes already seasoned with butter and cream here, but we start with plain) 1 egg 1/2 # AP flour salt and pepper to taste   Ravioli Filling and extras: 1 cup ricotta cheese (feel free to use any filling similar in texture such as roasted mashed butternut squash) 1 cup semolina for dusting your finished pasta 2 cups AP for dusting flour when making your pasta   Suggested Equipment 2 Medium sized Bowls pot of water to cook potatoes for gnocchi pot of water to cook off finished gnocchi slotted spoon potato masher or fork 1-2 sheet trays Bench Scraper 2 Forks Small container to break your eggs in to Pasta machine or Rolling Pin, Knife, and Cutting Board dusting flour plastic wrap small container to mix and season your ravioli filling wooden spoon weighed down with a couple heavy books hanging off the edge of your counter-to hang noodles semolina flour for dusting (comes with kit) *optional pizza cutter salt and pepper

Using fresh Herbs and Spices

This class will walk you through not only the history and origins of many common herbs and spices, but the not-so-common will be covered and used in class. You will learn flavor proviles and combinations with many different dishes. What works and what doesn't and how to best use herbs and spices in your kitchen will open up a whole new world of culinary delights! We'll of course also be tasting foods in class and have a feast to test out come herbacious creations. Yum!   *This is a lecture-based class where you can hold, feel, smell and taste. And it ends in a meal! No prerequisite of part 1 needed (we just can't fit all the cooking methods into a single class!)

Flavors and Balance

Come and learn about flavor basics and how to balance food properly.This is a critical thinking class where we practice and try out exercises to teach you flravor and taste!  It's not as subjective as you might think! We'll teach you what goes with what and how to make that blah soup jump off the spoon. This class is essential to moving from working with a recipe to allowing yourself to be creative in the kitchen.
